You need: clearly filled membership form, one-off membership fee Ksh 500 (Paybill 969800, A/C your phone number), monthly deposit minimum Ksh 500, clear copies of National ID, 1 coloured passport photo and kRA PIN. Expect a registration fee of KSh 500 and a minimum monthly saving of KSh 500. You can apply online on SaccoLink and we'll send your application to Elimu.

Loans are for members. How long you must save first, how much you can borrow against your deposits, and how many guarantors you need are set by Elimu, so ask a branch for the loan form and current terms. If you need a guarantor from Elimu, its SaccoLink guarantor board lets members guarantee each other.

Give Elimu written notice. Deposits are usually refunded after a notice period once your loans and any guarantees you have given are cleared. Share capital is normally not refunded, but you can sell it to another member, for example on SaccoLink.

Yes. Elimu is on SASRA's list of SACCOs licensed to take deposits (FOSA) for 2026, so it can offer withdrawable savings accounts as well as loans.
