How do I join Maktaba?

Bring your national ID and KRA PIN; Maktaba will tell you anything else it needs. You can apply online on SaccoLink and we'll send your application to Maktaba.

How do I get a loan from Maktaba?

Loans are for members. How long you must save first, how much you can borrow against your deposits, and how many guarantors you need are set by Maktaba, so ask a branch for the loan form and current terms. If you need a guarantor from Maktaba, its SaccoLink guarantor board lets members guarantee each other.

How do I leave Maktaba or withdraw my savings?

Give Maktaba written notice. Deposits are usually refunded after a notice period once your loans and any guarantees you have given are cleared. Share capital is normally not refunded, but you can sell it to another member, for example on SaccoLink.

Is Maktaba licensed by SASRA?

Yes. Maktaba is on SASRA's 2026 list of SACCOs authorised to take non-withdrawable deposits: members save deposits and share capital and borrow against them, but it doesn't run withdrawable (FOSA) accounts.
