Ranked by what members were actually paid: interest on deposits first, then dividend on shares, as each SACCO declared it.

Going by their latest declared rates, the best-paying SACCOs in Kenya are Kenya Highlands Sacco (13.5% on deposits, 15% dividend, FY2024), Tower Sacco (13% on deposits, 20% dividend, FY2025), Yetu Sacco (13% on deposits, 19% dividend, FY2025). The best SACCO for you also depends on whether you can join it, its loan terms, and whether SASRA licenses it.
Only SACCOs that published their rates are listed, at their latest declared year (FY2024 or FY2025). SACCOs SASRA has restricted are left out. Past rates don't guarantee future ones. All declared rates, every year · Work out what you'd earn
The highest rate is only one part of it. Before you join, check:
Tower Sacco declared the highest dividend on share capital in our list: 20% for FY2025. Dividends are paid on share capital only; most members hold far more in deposits, which earn the separate interest-on-deposits rate.
Kenya Highlands Sacco declared 13.5% on deposits for FY2024, the highest in our list. Interest on deposits matters most because deposits are usually the largest part of a member's savings.
Check four things: that SASRA licenses or authorises it (see the licence check), that you meet its common bond (some are only for one employer or profession), its record of interest on deposits over several years, and its loan terms (how many times your deposits you can borrow and at what rate). A high rate in one year is less telling than a steady record.
SACCOs that take savings are supervised by SASRA, which licenses deposit-taking SACCOs every year and publishes the list. A licence is not a guarantee, so also read the SACCO's annual results and avoid any SACCO SASRA has restricted. Never pay anyone who offers to "release" shares or a loan for a fee.
Many SACCOs that began with one employer or profession now accept members from the public; others still require that common bond. Each SACCO's page on SaccoLink lists its joining requirements and fees, and you can apply online.
